Addressable and Conventional Fire Alarm System

An addressable fire alarm system is made up of a series of fire detectors and devices that are connected back to a central control panel. A fire alarm system has a number of devices working together to detect and warn people through visual and audio appliances when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other emergencies are present. These alarms may be activated automatically from smoke detectors, and heat detectors or may also be activated via manual fire alarm activation devices such as manual call points or pull stations.

Addressable fire alarm panels are usually much more advanced than their conventional counterparts, with a higher degree of programming flexibility and single point detection. Each device constantly communicates with the control panel through microprocessor technology to report its status on the SLC. Within seconds, alarms, supervisory and trouble conditions are alerted to the control panel and a precise location of the event is displayed.
